Riverside Cemetery - Appleton, Wisconsin

The Director of Riverside Cemetery, Mary Lehman, shared with us how her cemetery solved their niche shortage problem:

Historic Riverside Cemetery, established in 1870, was running into a shortage of niche properties when I thought about retrofitting some of the single crypts into 4 unit niche modules. It is a well known fact that cremation constitutes 40% of all committals based on the Wisconsin Deaths and Death Rates Table. With that being said, niches are filling at a faster rate than crypts. If your cemetery has crypts that have not been purchased, a creative way to sell them is to retrofit some of the single crypts and place individual niches into the properties. To do this, you would score the granite front to respectfully place the inscription of the loved ones names.

One bridge I did not realize we would need to cross was once we sold one of the new niches, was incorporating the change into the CIMS map. Recording the sale into our CIMS program would have not been possible without the program understanding the new diagram. I applaud Ramaker & Associates for stepping right up to the plate and addressing our needs ASAP. Now when our office sells one of these newly unique niches, recording the sale is very easy, categorizes nicely to the location, and places the data simultaneously into our accounting program.
