Prairie Home Cemetery
Waukesha, Wisconsin
Prairie Home Cemetery had been using a paper-based system for managing their cemetery records for many
years, but knew there had to be a better way to manage their operations. After researching their software
options, the City of Waukesha knew that CIMS was the right choice for their cemetery.
Their cemetery information was in a cumbersome format that wasn't suiting their needs and they wanted to
streamline their records. After creating their new digital map, Ramaker & Associates assisted the
cemetery by migrating all historic cemetery data into the CIMS database.
Reidlawn Cemetery
Reidsville, North Carolina
CIMS was installed for Wilkerson Funeral Service's 16-acre cemetery and mausoleum. Custom marker types were
also added to their system. They then entered their historical data and were impressed with the speed and ease
in which they were able to complete the task.
Extra time and consideration was given when Ramaker & Associates developed CIMS to make mass historical
data entry a smooth and efficient process for our clients.
United States Naval Academy Cemetery
Annapolis, Maryland
The US Naval Academy Cemetery had been using a combination of paper maps, AutoCAD files, and an Access
Database to track burials within their cemetery. This process had become cumbersome and it was difficult to
keep this information up to date with their limited staff.
Ramaker & Associates assisted in the implementation of CIMS Cemetery software at the cemetery. Although
this cemetery is quite different from "traditional" cemeteries, CIMS is flexible enough to work
for their operations.
Rockton Township Cemetery
Rockton Township, Illinois
Rockton Cemetery had been using a combination of paper maps and cards as well as ArcView GIS software to
manage their cemetery operations. This had been cumbersome to maintain and was prone to data entry errors.
In 2002, the cemetery hired Ramaker & Associates to take their existing data and integrate it into CIMS.
Information from the paper maps and from the ESRI shapefiles was all integrated into the program and the
cemetery manager was easily trained in the use of the now streamlined software program.
City of Bedford, VA
Bedford, Virginia
The City of Bedford has four cemeteries totaling more than 40 acres, and their records consisted of a
variety of paper cards. Ramaker & Associates converted all their maps to a GIS data format and scanned
all their cemetery records.
The scanned records were entered into a database and linked to the image files through CIMS. This created a
completely usable system with all cemetery information beginning on the day it was installed. Ramaker &
Associates provided implementation and training services as well. The data is accessed from three different
locations via the city's fiber network.
St. John the Evangelist Church
Davison, Michigan
St. John Catholic Cemetery implemented CIMS 2.0 in 2000. Over the next few years, cemetery staff entered
all the cemetery's burial and ownership information. In 2003, this cemetery upgraded to CIMS 3.0 with the
QuickBooks® Module. This allows cemetery information to be automatically transferred to
QuickBooks® accounting software without entering anything twice.
Archdiocese of Milwaukee
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
The Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, manages more than 1,000 acres in eight cemeteries. Two years ago,
this organization implemented CIMS for all of its operating cemeteries and mausoleums. The initial project
was to migrate all historic data from the Legacy database, and develop a user-friendly system to manage this
data. All eight cemeteries have access to CIMS through a dial-up connection with a centralized server. CIMS has
had a substantial impact on sales and management operations for the Diocese.
The Archdiocese is currently in Phase II of CIMS development. This involves mapping all cemetery and
mausoleum spaces and linking them to the database. So far, nearly 200 acres of cemetery and more than 25,000
mausoleum spaces have been mapped.
City of Lee's Summit, MO
Lee's Summit, Missouri
The City of Lee's Summit was using an ArcView based system to manage it's cemetery data. This system was
difficult for cemetery staff to use and required assistance from the city's GIS staff.
Ramaker & Associates migrated the data to the CIMS database and is also hosting the data on a website.
This created a completely usable system with all cemetery information beginning on the day it was installed.
Ramaker & Associates provided implementation and training services as well.
Memorial Cemetery Association
Freemont, Nebraska
Memorial Cemetery had previously been using another software package to manage their data. Unfortunately,
this package did not meet the needs of the cemetery and had very high maintenance fees.
The cemetery switched to CIMS in 2002. Ramaker & Associates migrated the data from the Legacy system so
the software would be usable without additional data entry. CIMS Light has proven
to be an excellent tool for managing this cemetery's data.
